Mildred Pierce.......more Deco

The story of Mildred pierce is going to be a 5 part mini-series, set in old Hollywood High Deco time period. I have been excitedly awaiting this because the very fabulous and talented Ann Roth is the costume designer. Ann Roth knows her stuff and also takes into account who the character is when fitting them into their costume.

Based on the novel by James M. Cain, reads, “after her cheating husband leaves her, Mildred Pierce proves she can become independent and successful, but can’t win the approval of her spoiled daughter."
Kate Winslet plays Mildred Pierce

Evan Rachel Wood plays Veda, the "spoiled daughter"

The original film starred Joan Crawford and Ann Blyth. This role won Joan Crawford her only Oscar and gained her notoriety for playing an unusually independent womanly image for that time period, which was not the norm.
